With a lot of vivid imagination and as much excess, Du Laurens mocks the Freemasons, the Jesuits, ridiculous beliefs or manias, and attacks Philosophy as much as the abuses of Religion. The work was a great scandal success, and was condemned as outrageous to public and religious morality.
