Paul Margueritte ( February 20, 1860 in Laghouat, Algeria – December 29, 1918 in Hossegor, today Soorts-Hossegor, Landes) is a French writer, brother of Victor Margueritte, also a writer
His two daughters, also novelists, wrote under the name Lucie Paul-Margueritte (1886-1955) and Ève Paul-Margueritte (1885-1971).
He is one of the ten members of the Académie Goncourt.
He engages with his brother in the fight for equality and women’s rights. He publishes in particular on this subject Adam, Eve and Brid’oison.
A fan of naturalism, he published various novels of this genre: All Four, The Posthumous Confession, Pascal Géfosse or Days of Trials.
The Margueritte brothers were related to the Mallarmé, through their grandfather Victor Mallarmé (1803-1871), uncle of Stéphane Mallarmé 1 .
He lived in the villa of Beauséjour ( 16e district of Paris)
