First edition (Works and memoirs of the Institute of Ethnology, LVII) Masterful ethnological study devoted to a village in Seine Maritime bordering Picardy. Published by the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes. « Nouville is the name of a town of 613 inhabitants in 1946, located on Bresle, on the borders of Normandy and Picardy. Glassworks have been installed there since the end of the 18th century, and the village thus has a dual population, agricultural and working.
