Set of autograph leaves making up the Mégarée manuscript, 15 handwritten leaves of which the first three leaves are typescript and white, the next twelve are on blue paper, traces of rust in the upper margin of the first leaf, (numbered from 1 to 15), enriched with a touching dedication to the author’s wife, dated Mars 1, 1942

 “For you, Geneviève, these pages which were the first written when I took over Mégarée after the armistice, these pages which are your best part in Mégarée, in memory of Malmaison and our dreams for the future which gave us the grace of not changing color by becoming the present. Maurice. »

Play performed for the first time on February 3, 1942, at the Monte-Carlo theater, under the direction of Marcel Sablon. Misplaced, his first play was performed in Monaco shortly before the invasion of the southern zone. The Greek hero Megareus who offers himself to death to give back to his loved ones the taste of freedom.
